Blueberry Bounty
I haven't been the best blogger this vacation. And I have barely touched a pot or pan. But my guilt got the best of me as I worried about wasting all those blueberries from the farmer's market.
So here is the recipe for the blueberry scones my mom and I baked.
They freeze well, too.
I'm feeling less guilty.

Bouffant
I am not turning my girl into a child actress.
This is what happened when I went for a walk yesterday, leaving little G with Grandma. My mom was a 60's bouffant styled-pale-lipstick-mini-skirt wearing beauty (She even slept with her hair wrapped around soda cans for maximum volume.) And they both had their hair in rollers when I got home.
Unfortunately my girl's pin straight and baby fine locks fell limp as soon as the curlers came out. I draw the line at Aqua-Net.

Americana
1. Family: Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and more pint size cousins than Georgia can count on her fingers and toes.
2. Food: Red, red tomatoes and strawberries. Amish girls selling blueberry pies at the farmer's market. Fresh cut fries with vinegar. Corn on the cob. Banana splits and BBQ ribs. Juice running-down-the-elbows, sticky lips, and mmm mmm good.
3. Heat: Sunset at 9:30 p.m., jumping in the lake fully dressed, children eating popsicles in their diapers, sprightly toddlers prancing out of doors at bedtime in white cotton nightgowns. Does it ever get dark?
We are staying up way past our bedtime, slipping into our cool sheets exhausted and contented.
Missing Daddy back home but loving the U.S.A.

Down to the Wire
According to Georgia: "Georgia está de férias! Georgia is on vacation!"
It couldn't be more true. School is out. And we are heading to see our family in the USA. Been a hectic couple of days making princess pillows for a party (that will happen as soon as we return) and finishing a strawberry inspired order this morning. But as of 5 pm, we are airport bound. Georgia no longer qualifies as a "lap traveler." She will have her very own seat--which is great because I need room for belly. This will be the last international voyage for a while.
We are almost there!

Feliz Aniversario Mini Bolo
My new favorite flavor: Almond cake with apricot between the layers and mocha-buttercream frosting
Happy Birthday Maria Candida!
We all saw it coming...
What do sweet grandmothers do? Order cookies for their grandson to nibble on while they scream loudly "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL."
Enjoy the game!
Good luck Brazil!
