Felt?

Forget the felt flags. (And I know that garlands are being done and done and done.) But these gorgeous light reflecting strands of stained glass and soldered mirrors are the perfect piece to build your party decorations around. The rest...merely keep it simple.

Artist Pamela Angus
works in her snow buried studio in the French Alps. Must be all that light...all that white.

Inspiring.

A Big Day for Beatriz

Beatriz is having a big day today--a baptism and a first birthday party. And Georgia is invited to the festivities.

G thought Bee might enjoy a raindrop theme as much as she does. So I spent Saturday night with my needle, thread, and felt lint. The whole family collaborated. Felipe kept me company on the sofa while watching one of those "quality" films of the comedic sort (think Ben Stiller). And Georgia slept soundly until I put the last rosy cheek on the raindrop.

We are ready for the party. And it is a splendidly sunny day.

Crafting at the beach

My mother-in-law started the first session of beach crafting.
Circles of sea water blue on a red rope. Light, fresh and perfect with linen.

Paper and Cloth

I thought I was a bit crafty, making homemade things and all. But the talent out there in internet-land is humbling. When I happened upon paperandcloth, I felt like the first grader sitting behind the homecoming queen on the school bus: inadequate and pining to emulate.

We heart Olivia

If you have been following my last weeks of manic behavior, mobile construction, and sugar wars, you know that I hosted a baby shower luncheon for our neighbors (1st floor) Roberta and Julian and Georgia's future BFF (best friend forever), the lovely Olivia. It was a happy, sunny day. We're ready for you now, Olivia. The stork can bring you any time.

The Small Object

I had a gorgeous wedding cake. But it was one of those more formal fondant creations with fresh flowers. Had I known of Sarah Neuberger at the time, I would have certainly commissioned her to do a cake topper of the happy couple! If you notice in early posts, I used one of her candle toppers for Georgia's birthday cake. Sarah sent it to Brazil without blinking twice and personally checked back to see that I received it.

So don't hesitate to check out her site: www.thesmallobject.com. You will be smiling to yourself for hours!

Felt Barrettes

I have a new obsession:  felt barrettes!  Strawberries, apples, hearts, fried-eggs....you name it.  I have been working on them slowly and plan on debuting a mini-line for anyone out there interested.  Promise to have some more professional photos soon!
