Highlights of summer holiday in our small town USA:
1. Family: Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and more pint size cousins than Georgia can count on her fingers
and toes.
2. Food: Red, red tomatoes and strawberries. Amish girls selling blueberry pies at the farmer's market. Fresh cut fries with vinegar. Corn on the cob. Banana splits and BBQ ribs. Juice running-down-the-elbows, sticky lips, and mmm mmm good.
3. Heat: Sunset at 9:30 p.m., jumping in the lake fully dressed, children eating popsicles in their diapers, sprightly toddlers prancing out of doors at bedtime in white cotton nightgowns. Does it ever get dark?
We are staying up way past our bedtime, slipping into our cool sheets exhausted and contented.
Missing Daddy back home but loving the U.S.A.
