Easter Dress Rehearsal...

Neck Candy

Silhouette-Locket-Necklace_1

I'd like to have my children's silhouettes in a locket. And perhaps their initials on a bracelet or necklace? I can't decide which one?

A Lovely Project

My client hired me to do the cake for her wedding. And I found myself designing the flower girl's dress...a lovely project.

Cream silk tafeta
French tulle in grey tinged blue
An overflowing bow and a full skirt

Now imagine a little girl with chestnut hair bringing the dress to life--twirling into the twilight hours of the reception....

Girlie Fun

I woke up feeling guilty for returning from the beach early. (Georgia is on vacation all week for Carnival.) But I needed to get some pastries started for an event on Saturday. My plan was to do something really fun with her this morning--quality girl time--so she would be more understanding this afternoon when I needed to focus in the kitchen.

But what to do? And although I can usually make an event out of a jaunt to the newstand with her, I was feeling uninspired. I wasn't up for playing in the sandbox at the club. And I didn't think I could step foot in the bookstore so soon without a "thank you for letting my child play in your retail establishment" I'll buy something now moment.

As I was passing her toy room, I saw her Hello Kitty purse hanging from a hook. Perfect. Bullseye! I grabbed the satchel and told her, "you are going to need this bag." Her eyes lit up when I told her, "I have a surprise." And we headed out the door to the Hello Kitty Cafe!

It might be just a few tables in a Sanrio store in the mall. But the sweets are adorable. And the experience even better.

Georgia purred like a happy kitten.

Carnival Holiday

We didn't samba this Carnival. But we did dance with our children in our arms.
There were no drum beats...just the sound of rain pounding on the roof.
We were awake at the wee hours, not at a party but tending to the little ones.
There were no sequins or feathers in our attire, just the usual comfy machine washable wears.

A simple weekend at the beach...family and friends.

And we came home early--to escape the holiday traffic and sleep in dry sheets. Rested. Rejuvenated. Bonded.

A fabulous party....

Happy Carnival Holiday!

IMG_1016IMG_1017

Carnival festivities have officially begun. Georgia is having a samba costume party at school today.

So I created a homemade mixture of fairy, angel, and ballerina. Basically what I thought was every little girl's dream attire. Wrong. Yesterday she told me she wanted to go dressed as Spiderman. I actually thought it was pretty cool (enough of the pink and gender stuff). If I hadn't put all my energies into today's outfit, I may have just remade the costume.

Remade? Oh Mommy! Sewing machine...no! And although she left the house so pretty with a smile and spring in her step, I am certain G wants the Spiderman plastic mask and nylon outfit from the corner store.

But, of course.
